Dear friends!

Russia has carried out an act of aggression towards Ukraine. Russian troops have entered Crimea. Thus we take it upon ourselves to inform you about the events in Ukraine. We will provide you with yet another viewpoint regarding this conflict. We will do our best to remain fair and objective.

March 20 – Government of Ukraine is preparing for mass resettlement of Crimean residents to other regions of Ukraine. Supreme Council of Ukraine adopted a draft law “On ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens at temporarily invaded territory of Ukraine”. Crimean peninsula remains Ukrainian territory and Ukrainian legislation is applicable there. The law also describes responsibility in case of cooperation with the invaders.

March 20 – Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel threatened Russia with economic sanctions in case of further conflict escalation in Ukraine and spoke about Moscow’s international isolation. According to Merkel, the EU is ready to impose more sanctions.

March 20 – Kyiv and Washington are holding talks on creating a Council of Ministers of states-parties to Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, which ensured territorial integrity of Ukraine. States-parties to the Memorandum included United Kingdom, France and Russia.

March 20 – State Duma of Russian Federation has voted for the accession of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to Russia.

March 20 – In Chernihiv Security Service of Ukraine has detained Russian citizen, regular employee of Main Intelligence Directorate of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

March 20 – Barack Obama has extended the sanction’s list regarding Russian bureaucrats. 20 people of Putin’s inner circle are on this list. The list is available on US Department of Treasury website.

March 20 – Russian servicemen invaded Ukrainian corvette “Ternopil”. Command ship “Donbas”, rescue tugboat “Kremenets” and firefighting boat “Borshchiv” also surrendered.

March 20 – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is preparing to implement a visa regime with Russian Federation.
